Comments: Mountain West Church, in partnership with Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Tucker Civic Association, and several other community businesses are joining forces to conduct the largest recognition day in the county to honor several Dekalb County Police Officers in five nearby precincts.

DeKalb Animal Control is offering 2 educational classes in April: “Animal Cruelty Awareness Class” and “Pittville. The Animal Cruelty Awareness Class is described as “an open discussion about the state of animal cruelty in DeKalb County and the steps being taken to prosecute and reduce the number of these horrific crimes.” Pittville’s goal is “educating the public about bully breeds: Pit bulls.”

On Saturday before Thanksgiving, November 20, the Avon Garden Club will host its annual Pancake and Sausage Breakfast.
This year marks the 20th year of this popular event that brings together friends and neighbors at the Avondale Community Club.
Before and after breakfast, visitors can browse the Garden Boutique for garden tools, plants, baked goods, handcrafted items, Christmas ornaments and books.
Proceeds from this event help fund numerous projects benefiting Avondale Estates, scholarships and youth organizations. A detailed list of these projects will be on display at the breakfast.

December 4, 2010 Holiday In Smoke Rise
The annual arts and crafts show is a fundraiser to support Smoke Rise Charter School. The show is in its 29th year. It will be held December 4, 2010 from 9 am to 4 pm at Smoke Rise Charter School (1991 Silver Hill Road, Stone Mountain, GA).
